Biography

J. MICHAEL CROWE was born and raised in Los Angeles and has spent his entire professional career as a trial attorney. He graduated from U.C.L.A. Law School where he was invited to join the Law Review (which he declined due to his work schedule) and was twice awarded the DeGarmo Scholarship.

After graduation, he spent three years in the District Attorney's Office. He learned the art of advocacy directly from the District Attorney who had the highest conviction rate in the State. He spent most of his time in jury trials. His trial record led to an appointment to the special trial unit handling complex felony prosecutions. The last case he tried as a prosecutor involved the murder of a college student by a gang member. In that complex trial, 91 witnesses testified and the trial lasted over three months.

He joined the litigation department of a large full service Los Angeles law firm. He received training in civil litigation from the head of the litigation department who was later appointed to the Federal bench. He became a partner in the firm and specialized in representing manufacturers in complex product liability litigation.

He withdrew from his firm to join the partnership of a national law firm where he helped open their Los Angeles office. He then formed a specialized litigation firm that has become Crowe & Rogan LLP.

He has an active jury trial practice, including national trial assignments. On average, he takes two complex cases to jury trial each year and has earned a record of outstanding results in the courtroom. Due to filing of appeals by the other side, he has filed briefs in the California Supreme Court and the United States Supreme Court.

He is an active Author and Lecturer for the Litigation Section of the American Bar Association ("ABA") and the Practicing Law Institute. He has been a guest lecturer in at U.C.L.A. Law School and Pepperdine University Law School. He has lectured at the Annual Meeting of the Litigation Section of the ABA and participated on the faculty of an ABA National Institute on trial advocacy. He serves on the Board of Advisors for the Product Liability Reporter of the Bureau of National Affairs, Inc.
